I.C.A.R. Employees Consumer’s Cooperative Society Ltd  in Ri-Bhoi District was registered under the Meghalaya Cooperative Societies Act vide its Registration No. NPH/2/1992 dated 27^th April, 1992 . The Society started with six hundred ninety no. of members by catering consumer goods to its members and non-members at Rs. 10.66. Credit disbursement at Rs. 14.53 which resulted in the society earning a profit of Rs. 66,000/- during the initial year.

Later, the society has progress and diversified its activities like Fair Price Shop, Stall Canteen, Cable TV Network, LPG Unit, Office Supply and credit to its members. It also proposed to take up training in improving manpower to other Cooperatives of the district. Considering its performance, it is considered to be one of the Model Cooperative Societies in the state.
