The Shillong Cooperative Marketing Society Ltd. was registered under the Meghalaya Cooperative Societies Act under the Registration No. Shill/ 42 of 1957, dt. 01-04-1957 with its registered address at Iewduh, Shillong, East Khasi Hills. Its area of operation include the  East Khasi Hills District

The activities of the society include selling of school/ college books, animal feeds, pesticides  insecticides, stationery items, papal and other agricultural products. The society is one of the best cooperative society in the state. Besides, it is self-reliant and self-dependent. It runs its business activities from its five storeyed building at Iewduh, Shillong. With the sole efforts of the then Secretary/ Managing Director, Shri. (Late) Horen Jones and the present Secretary, Shri. K. Solomon R’Jeen, the society could expand in its business activities as it is seen today. The Society has been getting financial assistance in the shape of Share Capital contribution from the Government till 1985 of which in the year 1987, the share capital alongwith dividend amounting to Rs. 26,000/- and Rs. 12,132/- respectively has been refunded to the Government. Thus making itself to stand on its own feet.
