Meghalaya State housing Financing Cooperative Society Ltd. is a registered Cooperative Society which was registered on the 10th may, 1976 under the Meghalaya Cooperative Society Act 1950.

The main objects of this Apex Housing Society are to grant loan and advances to Housing Cooperative Societies in the State of Meghalaya which are affiliated to this Apex Housing Society against the Security of mortgage of immovable properties or such other securities as may be considered necessary for the construction of houses, repairs, addition or alteration, improvement and to acquire and develop land for the benefit of housing programmes.

The area of operation of this Apex Housing Society is the whole State of Meghalaya .

The total number of membership of this Apex Housing Society is 31 including the Govt. and break up of affiliated members are given below :

1  East Khasi Hills District  14. Nos. of Primary Housing Coop: Societies.
2  West Khasi Hills  4. Nos. of Primary Housing Coop: Societies.
3  Jaintia Hills  4. Nos. of Primary Housing Coop: Societies.
4  East Garo Hills  4. Nos. of Primary Housing Coop: Societies.
5  West Garo Hills  4. Nos. of Primary Housing Coop: Societies.

The Apex Housing has altogether 1803 members as on date the Apex Housing could sanctioned an amount of Rs. 85.86 lakhs as housing loans to its 14 affiliated Primary Housing Cooperative Societies for construction of houses and the total number of 274 members only of the Primary Housing Cooperative Societies have been benefit by way of construction 274 houses for the less fortunate.
