From the Desk of Registrar of Cooperative Societies

In Meghalaya, Cooperatives have played a major role in sustainable development and growth towards food security by helping small farmers, fisher folk, livestock keepers, etc, to solve numerous challenges that confront them in their endeavour to produce food. Relevance of Cooperatives is evident because they helped to reduce poverty and provide economic opportunity to their members by providing them employment.

Last year’s Cooperative Week Celebration has an added significance as this is being recognised at a time when the ICA –AP  Regional Assembly is also being held in the National Capital. Sustainable Development is the common theme of both the events. The theme is very significant today when working in accordance with UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Cooperatives are intrinsically sustainable in character and are deeply embedded within the communities in which they operate. The Office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Meghalaya, Shillong in its endeavour to keep this movement  in progress is doing its best for the overall benefit of the people of the State.

Cooperation is Self Help, “each for all and all for each”. Come joint hands in the Movement.

Thank You.
